I haven't taught in years. I'm starting again on Father's Day. There's a reason.
A Debut. A Homecoming. And a Father's Day You Won't Forget.
I have been checking you in for months.
I know many of your faces. I've watched you walk through that door on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings and Saturday mornings and I have smiled and meant it every single time.
And most of you have no idea that I used to teach.
My name is Maribeth Woodford. I am a former yoga studio owner. I built something in Monmouth and Ocean County that I loved with my whole heart a space where people came to breathe, to heal, to laugh, sing, dance and to find themselves on the mat. I poured years of my life into that community. And then life shifted hard and fast and I stepped away from teaching.
That was years ago.
I spent the time since rebuilding. Quietly. Intentionally. In the way that only someone who has truly lost something and found their way back understands. I tried on a lot of excuses for why I wasn't teaching anymore. I believed most of them for a long time.
And then something shifted again. In a different direction this time.
I found my way back at MonmouthFlow as part of the team. And slowly, steadily, the mat started calling again.
On Sunday June 21st — I am stepping onto the mat to teach for the very first time at MonmouthFlow Yoga + Wellness.
I am so ready.
THE CLASS
Vinyasa Flow: Music Speaks Dharma
Theme: No Excuses
This is my signature class one I created and taught for years. The playlist and the teaching move together as one. The music sets the tone. The dharma meets you where you are. The practice does the rest.
Every song is chosen with intention. Every teaching comes from real life. Come ready to move, breathe, and feel something.
If you have never experienced a Music Speaks Dharma class, this is your Sunday.
ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR MORNING
June 21st is Father's Day.
I chose this date on purpose.
The dharma I am bringing into that room was written from a real place. A deeply personal place. The kind of teaching that could only come from someone who has actually lived it the loss, the silence, the unexpected grace of finding your way back to someone you thought was gone forever.
I am not going to tell you everything here.
Some things are better felt in the room than read on a screen.
What I will tell you is this there will be space in that room for every kind of Father's Day story.
The beautiful ones. The complicated ones. The ones wrapped in grief. The ones wrapped in gratitude. The ones that are simply hard to hold.
Come as you are. Bring what you're carrying.
The mat will hold it.
I promise.
I have been waiting a long time to say this.
See you on the mat.
